Where can I find a list of registered training organisations in my area that offer the qualification I am looking for?
MySkills.gov.au is the official directory of vocational education and training (VET). It is a federal government initiative to enable a search and comparison of VET courses and training providers.
How long do registered training organisations (RTOs) have to transition to an updated training package component?
For RTOs' operating solely within VIC or WA
For details on regulation and transition, RTOs should contact the following:
VIC - Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA)
WA - Training Accreditation Council (TAC)
For RTOs' under the jurisdiction of ASQA
Once a new training product has been released on the National Register (training.gov.au), RTOs have 12 months to transition to the replacement component. If a qualification or unit of competency is superseded but not replaced (deleted from the Training Package), ASQA will remove the qualification from the RTO’s scope of registration two years from the deletion date.
Temporary extension of transition period
For all new training products endorsed from September 2015 to March 2016, the Department of Education and Training has temporarily increased the transition period to 18 months. For more information please visit the Department of Education’s website: https://www.education.gov.au/regulation-vet
Approved qualifications with an extended transition period
In special circumstances ASQA will extend the transition period of some training products. ASQA has currently approved an extended transition period for the following qualifications:
|Training product and code
||Extended training, assessment and certification issuance period ends
| SIS50213 Diploma of Fitness
||3 March 2017
|HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled-Division 2 nursing)

HLT60512 Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy

HLT61012 Advanced Diploma of Nutritional Medicine

For further information regarding transition, please view ASQA’s Users’ Guide to the Standards and General Direction – Learners Transition.
Different states and territories may have alternative requirements. RTOs are therefore encouraged to check with their local state training authority.
Who do I speak to if I have a question about the nominal hours for a training package?
While SkillsIQ is responsible for assisting in the development of national training packages, we do not play a role in the determination of nominal hours or funding. This is determined at a state or territory level based on supervised training hours, and can be less than the actual number of hours a student needs in the training of a unit of competency or qualification.
Nationally agreed nominal hours for use by NCVER in national reporting of VET data are available on the NCVER site. However, questions about nominal hours or funding should be directed to the relevant state training authority.
