LGA04 Local Government Training Package Development

SkillsIQ, under the direction of the Local Government Industry Reference Committee is undertaking a detailed update of the Training Package Products in the LGA04 Local Government Training Package. The update is in accordance with the Case for Change informed by consultation with the Local Government sector and approved by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC).

Throughout this project, stakeholders will have the opportunity to have their say and express their views about proposed changes through workshops, webinars and via the SkillsIQ online Feedback Forum to ensure that Training Package Products are aligned to the current and future skills requirements of job roles within the Local Government sector.

The update will consider the content and structure of all Qualifications in the Training Package as there have been significant changes in the nature of the Local Government sector, including the scope of services provided, since the last review.

The priorities for the update identified in the Case for Change include the need to:

  • reduce duplication
  • ensure that the qualifications align to current job roles that have been impacted by new technologies, legislation and regulatory change
  • cater to the specific needs of the local government workforce now and in the future
  • support occupational mobility within the sector and with other sectors

SkillsIQ will be undertaking a number of key activities to engage with stakeholders, share feedback and inform the review of the Training Package Products. For further information, please contact:
