"20 units are reasonable for the diploma of community services. Students will need to learn all subject areas as listed."

"I always wondered why the the diploma only got 100 hours of placement. For a diploma student it will take at least coupe of weeks to understand the host organisation and need additional time to learn and practice skills. I completed more hours placement as per professional body requirement and it was the main reason I got my current job. I got this job within 3 months after completion. Some of my friends who did not get a job and are still struggling because their training wasnt upto standard. I support increasing placement hours as it will benefit students at the end of the day. Also, poor vulnerable clients must not be put up with workers with just 100 hours of experience. You cant do much with 100 hours. "

"Considering the staggering numbers and over representation of Aboriginal young people in the justice system - this Unit should be included into the Core Units"

"Be useful if there were hours attached to one or two Youth Work Specialist Units. Bearing in mind that placement opportunities in Victoria for students undertaking a Cert Iv are limited to shadow work, under Supervision, community engagement, and more likely program work. "
