UNIT TITLE

Facilitate improvement in workplace legislative performance

APPLICATION

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate the development and implementation of workplace improvement strategies related to work, health and safety (WHS) legislation.

 

Those undertaking this unit would work independently performing complex tasks in a range of familiar contexts facilitating improvement to workplaces to ensure compliance with legislation.

 

The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State/Territory legislation, Australian standards and industry codes of practice.

 

No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative or certificate requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

ELEMENTS

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA

Elements describe the essential outcomes

Performance criteria describe the performance needed to demonstrate achievement of the element.

  1. Facilitate the development of workplace WHS improvement strategies
    1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of enabling legislation and regulation requirements.
    2. Identify jurisdictional policies and procedures that are relevant to the education and facilitation of stakeholders.
    3. Identify stakeholders to assist in the facilitation of workplace improvements.
    4. Explain to the workplace the limitations of own and work health and safety (WHS) regulator’s role.
  1. Facilitate implementation of workplace WHS improvements
    1. Facilitate processes for improving workplace legislative compliance in collaboration with stakeholders.
    2. Develop, in consultation with stakeholders, timelines and responsibilities for improving legislative compliance.
    3. Provide documented advice to stakeholders on the requirements for effective workplace improvements.
    4. Provide guidance and support to assist implementation of workplace WHS improvements.
  1. Review effectiveness of workplace improvements
    1. Monitor outcomes of workplace improvements.
    2. Report on outcomes of monitoring to stakeholders in accordance with jurisdictional policies and procedures.
    3. Provide feedback to stakeholders on the effectiveness of workplace improvement strategies.

TITLE

Assessment Requirements for PSPWPI002 Facilitate improvement in workplace legislative performance

PERFORMANCE EVIDENCE

Evidence of the ability to complete tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit in the context of the job role, and provide evidence of performance on at least one occasion for each of the following in relation to workplace legislative performance:

  • apply risk management principles
  • undertake research and analysis
  • communicate and influence in order to facilitate change in the workplace
  • provide advice and participate in discussions involving complex exchanges of oral information
  • facilitate improvement in workplace legislative performance.

Knowledge evidence

KNOWLEDGE EVIDENCE

Demonstrated knowledge required to complete the tasks outlined in elements and performance criteria of this unit:

 

  • Jurisdictional policies and procedures applying to WHS regulators
  • legislation, policies and requirements for:
    • work health and safety
    • workers compensation
    • injury management
  • risk management principles
  • change management processes.

Assessment conditions

ASSESSMENT CONDITIONS

 

 

 

Skills must be demonstrated in either:

  • a workplace environment or
  • a simulated environment.

 

Simulated assessment environments must simulate the real-life working environment where the skills and knowledge within this unit would be utilised, with all the relevant equipment and resources of that working environment.

 

Assessment must ensure access to:

  • legislation, policy procedures and protocols relating to workplace legislative performance.

 

Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations’ requirements for assessors.
