This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to conduct complex, creative, routine and non-routine communication in English, to meet the oral or signed language and communication needs of interpreting in complex settings. It involves fluent listening and speaking skills at a high level of complexity, to deliver presentations, conduct negotiations, provide summaries, and participate in social and cultural activities.
This unit applies to those working as interpreters in a range of fields or contexts.
RTOs delivering this unit must ensure that learners have sufficient capability in English to undertake this unit.
The skills in this unit must be applied in accordance with Commonwealth and State or Territory legislation, Australian Standards and industry codes of practice.
