"I am not sure I can make sense of the direction proposed for this qualification. In some ways this has become a watered down version of Cert III - particularly with the removal of any unit related to gym instruction / program writing in the core and entry requirements for Cert IV. Yes, the rigour added into some units – such as SISFFIT035 / SISFFIT046 has reached new levels and will I believe add not take, from the percentage of students who will not complete a Cert III qualification – counter to one of the goals of this rewrite. The ‘meat’ of the qualification is gone but the prescriptive nature of the requirements for assessment seem positioned to add more pressure to industry to provide experiences (8 sessions / some 30 mins / some 40 mins /some 60 – some for adults below and age/ others above etc). The potential exists for industry to want to become less involved when this level of impact on their business is required. I saw an earlier comment from Chris Weier which addressed this. I can see industry frustration occurring when it becomes evidence that students do not have the skills to even attempt the writing of a program while on placement: a possible reduction in work placement support could be an outcome. Suggested electives for this level qualification are also baffling. Finally…. No equivalence …. The repercussions of this are vast: I believe this needs further consideration "

"Yes agree it would make a lot of sense to embed the appropriate elements of the A&P plus screening into the Aqua specific units. It is difficult to make one size fit all across such a varied industry."

"I agree, I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind this statement either. An aqua instructor needs to be able to offer options to be able to cater for different fitness levels and abilities regardless of the gender."
